CombinOx® - An important Technology for Cyanide Effluent Treatment
CombinOx® is a chemical oxidation process which combines certain efficiency factors of the two leading cyanide destruction processes; the SO2/AIR and CyPlus peroxygen based processes. It is capable of reaching low residual chemistry (cyanide and metals) and can offer substantial capital and operating cost savings. Figuratively speaking, the engine of the process is the SO2/AIR system and the fuel to the process is a combination of peroxygen, sulphur dioxide and air, all catalyzed by copper.
The combination of the Caro's Acid and the SO2/AIR technology can be beneficial in reducing investment costs for the equipment as well as reducing the operating costs for the cyanide detoxification. In specific cases, the existing detoxification equipment can be used for the application of CombinOx® after certain modifications. The residual chemistry of CombinOx® treated effluent is as good or better than either of the two background technologies. Furthermore, CombinOx® offers added flexibility to deal with changes in feed chemistry through "process balancing".
It is our company policy to support and assist our customers during the application of one of our processes. Our initial involvement is the 5-Way comparative test program from which we develop process selection and optimization details. We support the design of the facility with basic engineering and assistance to the detailed engineering and EPCM work and follow-up in the field with process commissioning and operator training. We encourage a steady return of operating data so that we can monitor long term process performance and help the customer maintain high cost-efficiency. Furthermore, safety lectures concerning the handling / use / transportation and storage of the reagents, is offered by trained CyPlus® technicians.
