CyPlus® Caro's Acid
Caro’s Acid is a powerful oxidant that is produced in situ by adding hydrogen peroxide to concentrated sulphuric acid. Caro’s acid, or peroxymonosulphuric acid, is used in a wide range of industrial applications. More recently, Caro’s Acid has been applied at precious metal mines to treat cyanide-containing effluents. Applying decades of experience in the manufacturing of persulphate compounds, CyPlus engineered the CyPlus line of Caro’s Acid generators using proprietary technologies designed to generate peroxymonosulphuric acid safely, efficiently and economically at the customer’s site.
Tailor-made equipment (e.g. CyPlus® Caro’s Acid Generator) is constructed, installed and commissioned on site. The design incorporates state-of-the-art safety features and modern reliable material of construction. In large scale applications, the CyPlus® Caro’s Acid process can often outperform other effluent-treatment systems and lead the most viable solution, depending on the effluent.
| Type | Application | Process | Chemistry | Benefits |
|---|
| Slurry | C.I.P. & C.I.L.
Slurries | Caro´s acid with | H2O2 + H2SO4 —> H2SO5 + H2O
CN- + H2SO5 —> OCN- + H2SO4 | Excellent for pulps, min. retention time required
Extremely fast kinetics, often <30 sec.
Normally no additional catalyst is required |
