A Transport and Logistic Survey is a more and more upcoming issue in the primary phase for mining operations. Today, the mining companies show added responsibility to assure a save and proper transport of dangerous goods like Sodium Cyanide to the mine site. A good and detailed Transport and Logistic Survey could reduce potential risks and difficulties of cyanide transportation to a minimum.
CyPlus has the product specific experience which and where are the risks and what is of importance. For example:
- Is there only one suitable route or are there alternative routes in terms of safety, logistic, etc.?
- In which conditions are roads, bridges, etc. along the transport route?
- Has the transport to pass critical spots like water reservoirs, rivers, large cities, level crossings during the transport?
- Are medical service, police, fire brigade and also a telephone and cell phone network available along the route?
- Is suitable equipment for loading and unloading available in each depot, harbour, terminal where the containers has to be handled?
- Checking the forwarding company. Condition of the trucks, trained drivers for transport dangerous goods, etc.?
Furthermore, the results of the route survey are stated and analysed according the Zurich Method to reduce and minimise obvious risks. The Transport and Logistic Survey also includes -beside the detailed route survey- an Emergency Response Plan, a Basic Logistic Concept, Product Information (NaCN), Description of the different and possible packaging forms, the CEFIC - Guidelines for Storage, Handling and Distribution of Alkali Cyanide and a compilation of all necessary documents and form for the delivery of sodium cyanide.
